how do I book my photo session?
Ready to book? I am honored and excited! You can contact Tracy Allyn Photography through the contact page on this site or by calling 214.682.3965 to discuss potential session dates and your session needs. Payment of the session fee retainer is due in full by Mastercard, Visa, or check along with your signed portrait agreement to reserve your date.

how far in advance can I book an appointment?
I accept a limited number of sessions each month so that I can provide my clients with a personalized portrait experience, give the images the attention to detail in the editing and ordering of your art, and balance time with my family. Sessions usually book 4-8 weeks in advance and may fill more quickly in the fall and spring seasons. So please contact me as soon as possible. Appointments can be made up to a year before your preferred date if you like.

where will our session be held?
Just about anywhere we like in the area. We shoot in fields, gardens, around downtown, and all kinds of locations. During our pre-session consultation we will discuss your style and what direction you would like your session to go. If you have an idea, let's talk about it!  I shoot all over the Dallas area! I am also available for state, national, and international travel and can provide pricing for your spectacular destination session. Most local sessions in Dallas, there is no additional fee for travel. Any location selected that requires a permit or membership will be paid by the client and must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance with the venue to allow for the permit process. Tracy currently has a membership to the Dallas Arboretum, so there is no entry fee for that location for up to five family members.

what ages do you photograph?
I photograph babies (beginning at 3 months), children, tweens & teens, high school seniors, and adults in any stage of life.  All of these can be individually photographed or as familial groups.

when should we schedule family portraits?
Whenever works best for you. Springtime flowers, a summer day, colorful fall, or a cool winter tree session... All are incredible in Texas. I shoot year round with outdoor sessions beginning one hour after sunrise or about two hours before sunset. For babies and young children it is best to consider which of these times of day they are at their happiest.  I love seeing families each year, especially when children are young. They just change so much!

when should I schedule my maternity portraits?
The best time for maternity pictures is 8 - 10 weeks before your due date. You want your belly to be round and beautiful and still feel comfortable. Maternity sessions can be scheduled either in studio or at an outdoor location.

what are the best times for my baby's pictures?
Around 3 - 4 months babies are able to lift their head and reach for toys.  Between 6 - 8 months old your baby will begin sitting up, playing with toes and toys, giggling. These are great times to capture images. I also recommend the first year pictures be taken between 12 - 15 months after your baby is walking. What fun to capture them at a great outdoor location to showcase all that energy and personality. Photographing milestones is a good plan, rather than specific ages. Tracy no longer photographs newborns. The studio is often the best option for photographing 3 - 6 month old babies, however if weather permits, outdoor is also great.

when is the best time to schedule my senior portraits?
Anytime during your senior year, depending on what deadlines you are trying to make. For senior pictures, fall has a lot less free time and can be too hectic for seniors to shoot... So you may schedule during the summer before your senior year or the very beginning of the school year if you are wanting to make yearbook deadlines. Sometimes senior guys and girls opt to wait for spring semester of their senior year (January to mid April), just make sure to allow yourself time to get ready for announcements. These sessions do fill quickly, so book as soon as possible to get your preferred date.

what if my high school has a contracted photographer?
Many schools in our area have photographers setup to shoot the cap and gown / yearbook photos. But that doesn't mean you can't express yourself with a custom portrait session. Your senior year should be all about you. Sessions with me are casual and fun. Think multiple outfits on location and playful, mixed with posing. Most of my seniors use their portraits for them and their family, graduation announcements, sorority recruitment applications, and even a senior spread page in the yearbook. This is such an important time in your life... Don't miss this chance to show who you are.

when will our proofs be ready?
After your session, I will select all of the best images from the day. General color and exposure editing will be individually applied to your proof images. Your full online viewing gallery will be ready 2 weeks after your session.

do you retouch our images that we order?
Any image ordered will be fully edited personally with my signature style. Your image enhancements will include skin retouching, sharpening, color, and exposure as part of your professional portrait experience.

what is the ordering process?
Orders may be placed at an in studio ordering session or online directly through your proof viewing gallery.  Ordering in studio is the perfect chance for you to see samples of canvases, albums, and print papers in person. We will discuss sizes and I will also help you select the best images for your products.  For ordering sessions, please make sure all decision makers will be present. Your gallery will remain active online for two weeks from the date of posting and all orders must be placed during this time, whether in studio or online.

what prints and products do you offer?
Portrait prints come in your choice of linen (favorite), luster, or metallic paper with all prints being mounted and ready to frame. Also popular are custom designed leather or linen cover albums, gallery wrapped canvases, fine art acrylic gallery prints, cards & announcements, and framing options. My clients absolutely love the quality and the variety of prints and products that are available.

do you offer collections?
Yes! For the best value for your portrait art and to make the biggest statement in your home, I recommend the Signature Collections and Canvas Collections. Not only do they offer substantial savings of 10-40% over a la carte pricing, but collections come with a special discount code to use on additional a la carte prints and products. Current collections will be presented with your proofs. Custom collections can also be created during your in studio ordering appointment.

do you offer bulk prints?
Yes! As an add-on item, I offer two bulk print packages, twenty-four wallets or ten 4x6 prints. Each of these bulk print packages will include one image (pose). You will have your choice of luster or metallic paper. These bulk print single image packages are perfect for high school senior clients who need prints for graduation announcements or sorority recruitment or families that love to include loose prints or wallets in cards that they send out.

when will my prints and products be ready?
Prints, canvases, metals, and cards will be ready for delivery within 3 weeks from the time payment is received for your order. Custom designed albums and framing may take an additional 1-2 weeks due to design and production time. Orders may be picked up at the studio or customers may elect to pay for shipping and handling at the time of purchase.

what should I expect to invest in professional portraits?
The majority of Tracy Allyn Photography clients invest between $1000 - $2000 for their portrait order. There is a minimum investment of $500 for prints and products. For orders that exceed the minimum a payment plan is available, if needed. Please see the prints & products tab for general pricing information and contact me if you have any questions about the full line of prints, products, and collections offered.

do you offer mini-sessions?
On occasion I get asked if I photograph holiday card mini-sessions. I am sorry, but at this time I only offer full sessions to give my clients the best professional experience for their custom portraits. Cards and announcements are offered for purchase upon reaching the $500 minimum print and product order.

do you offer incentives for established clients?
I absolutely love seeing established clients! Many clients come back annually, some even twice a year, and I'm proud to now call so many of them friends. Repeat clients always receive $50 off the session fee, 15% off a la carte orders, and 5% off already discounted collections. Every 5th session with Tracy Allyn Photography, I waive your session fee and offer you 20% off a la carte orders. If you are an established client, please contact me for your special discount code before placing your order for session fees or portraits.

will tax be added on to my order?
Yes, 8.25% local and state sales tax will be applied to all orders and session fees.

what forms of payment do you accept?
Tracy Allyn Photography accepts Mastercard, Visa, checks, and cash. Upon placing your order, you may pay via credit card through the cart or over the phone, or mail your check to the studio. Payment is due at the time of ordering, with prints and products ready for delivery approximately three weeks after payment in full. For orders that exceed the minimum order requirement a payment plan is available if desired. There is a $50 fee for any returned checks.

do you offer web resolution digital files?
I happily gift to you a watermarked web resolution companion file of each image that is purchased as a print or product upon reaching your minimum order requirement. This is a great way to show off your favorite images from your session with Tracy Allyn Photography on Facebook or other social media. In accordance with Federal Copyright Law, images may not be printed or altered by the client and photographer credit must be given.

do you sell digital print resolution files?
Tracy Allyn Photography is a boutique studio providing custom portraits as prints, canvases, and albums for your home. I want my clients to display their portraits and smile at the result every time they walk by them and also be proud every time a guest in their home sees them. I take pride in my work and prefer to control the quality by providing you with beautiful images from the best professional labs. I also find that clients who only purchase digital files only usually do not print their images and often forget about them on their computer. Therefore, I encourage my clients to order physical prints or products and I prefer to not offer single print resolution files for sale outright without the purchase of a printed portrait display option. However, for those who are interested in digitals, individual 5x7 print resolution files are available as an add-on to your print order of the same image. I am also now offering Digital Collections of your favorite 10 or 20 images sized as 8x12 print resolution files on a USB flash drive for purchase, but I highly encourage clients to have printed images in their home. Portraits can't be enjoyed, treasured, and valued merely sitting on a USB (winky face).

will I own the rights to the images from our session?
As the photographer, I retain all image copyright ownership/rights and reserve the right to use the images for business promotion, such as on websites, our blog, social network sites, and business materials unless otherwise specified by the client in writing at the time of booking your session. All images are protected by Federal Copyright Law. Copyright law prohibits copying, downloading, selling, scanning, or other illegal usage of images produced by Tracy Allyn Photography. Law also specifies that clients may not alter the look of a portrait by Tracy Allyn Photography with editing software either via computer or mobile app. All images must remain true to the photographer's artistic style.

how long do you save our image files?
Your viewing gallery will remain online for ordering for two weeks. If your gallery has expired it can be reactivated for an additional 7 days for a fee of $75 to allow additional time for you to place your order. After you have placed your order, your ordered images will be archived for 6 months following your session date, however images that are not ordered may be purged after 60 days from the original posting of your proofs.

what if we are sick or have an emergency?
If someone in the portrait group is sick or your child is exceptionally not themselves, please consider rescheduling your session. Although session fee retainers are non-refundable they may definitely be applied to a future session, should you need to reschedule due to illness or family emergency. Your paid session retainer may be rescheduled up to six months from the original date scheduled.

what if the weather looks bad for our outdoor location?
All outdoor sessions are dependent on good weather and may need to be rescheduled at the discretion of the photographer. Texas weather can be unpredictable and crazy. A little overcast day works... Dark, ominous rain clouds and huge gusting winds not so much! Your session is still on until you hear from me regarding potential rescheduling. I will generally check in with you the day before the session for a weather forecast check but if something comes up that day we can adjust as needed.

can I bring my camera to the session?
No, please respect that my camera will be the only camera at session. This policy includes cell phone cameras and video as well. Other cameras distract both subjects and the photographer.

what is the return policy?
Due to the custom nature of photography, all sales are final for session fees, prints, and products. If there is a discrepancy in your order and the wrong item was delivered, please contact me within 7 days of delivery and I will make sure that you receive the correct item in a timely manner.
